FC Baguettes Open the New Season with a Hard-Fought Draw Against Tayrona

A new season, a new shirt, a new sponsor — but the same intense battle against Tayrona. FC Baguettes kicked off the second season of 2026 with a hard-fought 1–1 draw against their familiar Latin American opponents.

With several new faces strengthening a largely unchanged squad, the Baguettes returned to action under a blazing Sunday afternoon sun. At 2 PM and with temperatures reaching 30°C, the conditions quickly tested the players physically.

As so often against Tayrona, the encounter was intense and physical. The Baguettes controlled much of the play, but their opponents constantly challenged them both technically and mentally. Chances came at both ends before Tayrona eventually struck from close range midway through the first half, leaving goalkeeper Matthieu Richard with no chance. 1–0.

After a motivating halftime team talk, the French side returned with renewed intensity. The pressure increased and the chances finally started flowing. Illiès Cherqui came desperately close with a long-range effort that struck the post, while Cyrille Flauw saw a powerful close-range header brilliantly tipped over the bar.

The equalizer eventually came through Mickael Brillouet. Winning the ball back in midfield, he drove forward before unleashing a powerful strike from 15 meters that found the back of the net. 1–1!

That goal completely reignited the Baguettes, who pushed hard for a winner in the closing stages. But despite their momentum, the breakthrough never came.

A point to start the season. Not the victory they wanted, but against a Tayrona side that once again turned the game into a physical and mental battle, FC Baguettes showed character, resilience and promising signs for the season ahead.
