FC Baguettes End the Season in Style Against Red Star FC
FC Baguettes closed their season with a memorable 3–2 victory over Red Star FC, a team they had never beaten before. The previous two meetings had both ended in 3–0 defeats, making this final match an opportunity for redemption.
The game began under heavy rain that soaked both the pitch and the players before kickoff. Although the weather eased as the match started, the conditions remained challenging. The Baguettes immediately took control, dominating possession and setting the tempo.
The breakthrough came early when Mickael drove into the penalty area and won a penalty. Colin stepped up and calmly converted the spot kick, scoring in what was his final match for FC Baguettes. 1–0.
Despite several absences, the French side remained in control. Red Star threatened occasionally but relied mainly on set pieces. Just before halftime, Jérôme launched a clever throw-in to Mickael, who controlled the ball with his chest and laid it off perfectly for Hicham. The winger unleashed a stunning volley into the far top corner to double the lead. 2–0.
The second half was a different story. The Baguettes dropped deeper and conceded several corners. Red Star, specialists from dead-ball situations, pulled one back after Louis spilled a slippery ball made difficult by the wet conditions. 2–1. Moments later, another corner caused chaos at the back post and the English side equalized. 2–2.
With tensions rising, the Baguettes reorganized and brought on their strongest lineup. Fifteen minutes from time, Mickael burst through midfield and delivered a perfect assist to Illiès, who rounded the goalkeeper and calmly finished. 3–2.
The final minutes were nervy, with Red Star earning dangerous free kicks around the box, but the French defense held firm. When the referee blew the final whistle, relief and joy swept through the team.
A hard-fought victory, a first-ever win against Red Star FC, and the perfect way to end the season for FC Baguettes.
