FC Baguettes Held to Frustrating Draw Against Tayrona FC
Under a scorching 30°C sun, FC Baguettes entered a crucial match against Tayrona FC knowing that a victory could propel them into the upper half of the table and keep alive their hopes of challenging for third place before the penultimate game of the season.
The match was tense from the opening whistle, with the Baguettes controlling possession and dictating play. Tayrona FC relied almost exclusively on long goal kicks launched directly into the penalty area, creating a constant aerial threat. The French side received an early warning when a Tayrona free kick, awarded for offside, sailed untouched into the net. Fortunately for the Baguettes, the indirect free kick could not count.
Soon after, the Colombians struck for real. A first save from goalkeeper Louis was unfortunate enough to rebound straight into the path of the striker, who calmly finished to make it 1–0 before halftime.
The Baguettes came out determined after the break but struggled to create clear-cut chances. Their reward finally arrived through a superb team move. Anthony combined cleverly with Richie, who delivered a perfect cross for Kilian. The striker guided a delicate header between the goalkeeper’s legs to level the score at 1–1.
As the game opened up, tempers began to rise on the South American side. FC Baguettes continued to push forward and created numerous opportunities, but wasteful finishing proved costly. Hicham, Illiès, Colin and Micka all came close, hitting the post, firing over, or missing chances they would normally bury.
Meanwhile, Tayrona remained faithful to their direct approach, launching long balls forward that kept the Baguettes’ defense and goalkeeper under pressure until the final whistle.
In the end, the match finished 1–1, leaving both teams frustrated. For FC Baguettes, it felt like two points dropped after dominating much of the play but failing to turn control into victory.
