FC Baguettes Snatch Dramatic Draw Against Waves FC
FC Baguettes battled to a thrilling 2–2 draw against Waves FC, a young and athletic Chinese side, in a match full of intensity, controversy, and late drama.
The game remained balanced early on until a brutal turning point: Waves’ striker collided head-on with goalkeeper Matthieu Richard. In a powerful challenge, Richard suffered a broken jaw, yet the referee only awarded a foul, refusing to sanction the attacker. Tensions exploded, and the match became increasingly physical, with the referee struggling to maintain control.
Waves struck first, but the Baguettes responded brilliantly. Matthieu Richard, despite his injury, delivered a decisive assist to Cyrille Flauw, who calmly finished to level the score at 1–1.
As fouls piled up, yellow cards were shown to Cyrille Flauw, Kilian Faury, and Mickael Brillouet, who was later sent off, leaving the Baguettes down to six men. Waves took the lead late, sparking wild celebrations.
But in the final seconds, Benjamin “Ben” Legrand fired a deflected free-kick into the net—2–2! A heroic finish that felt like victory for the Baguettes.
